HardCopy Pro combines flexible and simple screen capture functionality with some basic image editing features. It offers you all the versatility you would expect from any other high-quality screen capturing tool plus some useful extra options, such as the possibility of e-mailing the resulting image and of scheduling automatic screen captures.
After having used a number of other standard screen capturing tools that offer you a functionality that barely improves what the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard can do for you, it is refreshing to come across an application like HardCopy Pro. The main difference between this and other similar tools is the amount of extra features it provides. The screen capturing process itself resembles that of the program's competitors – you can select the area of the screen or the window you wish to capture and add the mouse cursor to the image or not. However, in this “Capture” tab you will find the first of the program’s various extra features – a timer that allows you to schedule automatic screen captures, which will be sequentially saved in the folder of your choice and with the desired level of quality.
Images can be saved as JPEG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, or PNG files, but you can perform some basic editing tasks before doing so. Unlike many other similar tools, HardCopy Pro allows you to crop, enlarge, highlight, and change the color mode of the active screenshot. However, if you require more sophisticated editing features, you can tell the program to link with your favorite image editing tool for further retouching.
You can print your screenshots directly from HardCopy Pro, and select the print size, the position of the image in the page, and the page orientation and margins. And finally, you can e-mail your captures or send them directly to various applications – such as MS Word – without leaving the program’s interface.
As you can see, this versatile screen capturing tool, even only for all the extra functionality it provides, is worth considering.
